French Know-how

We prove every day that it is still possible to manufacture very high quality bike frames in France, mixing our artisanal know-how (the famous French savoir faire!) with modern industrial practices.

Bespoke

We design and manufacture your unique frame that’s tailor made for your measurements and your style of riding. We take into account your preferences and our experience for all technical choices.

Shaping of tubes

We work on shaping some tubes for improved lateral stiffness and to render our bikes more efficient without losing the initial comfort provided by the metal whether it is:

  • 25CD4 shaped steel extruded according to French chemical and mechanical characteristics, and certified aeronautic class 2;
  • titanium grade 9 ( Ti-3Al-2.5V ) standardised for industry and classified ASTM B338.

Mechanical welding

Our welds are all carried out with the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) method and work to minimise the HAT (heat affected zone) and lighten the frame. Titanium frames are created by inerting Argon in the interior of the tubes.
Brazing with a blowtorch, using a softer metal than the tubes, is only used for assembling small parts on steel and stainless steel frames: bottle holder inserts, cable supports, cable stops, etc…..

Structural Assembly

Developed for space launchers and used more and more in aeronautical engineering, structural adhesives simplify the assembly process while guaranteeing mechanical solidity.
Used on our AllRoad frame to join the composite carbon tubes to the grade 9 titanium tubes, this process was first used when developing a concept bike for Aviatube.

R&D

We use SolidWorks software to design and conceive certain complex parts of the frames that are then manufactured by a subcontractor:

  • 3D printing in steel or titanium for the one4all pivots;
  • CNC machining for the one4all linkages;
  • laser cutting for brake mounts and Caminade  logos;
  • Compression-transfer moulding for the AllRoad’s carbon joins.

We are therefore able to conceive and manufacture special projects, whether they are derived from our range...

Finishing

Steel frames are finished by electrostatic projection of thermosetting high resistance paint powder:

1.    We first sandblast the frames so the paint sticks well to the frame;
2.    Then we apply a first coat of anti corrosive Zinc paint that is highly resistant to gravel, which will only be partly baked;
3.    The second coat is of polyester paint which provides great resistance to shocks, UV light and bad weather;
4.    The final baking at 180°C enables the polymerisation of the 2 coats of paint.

We are able to offer all colours from the RAL classic shades in 4 different finishes: gloss, satin, matt, sandy.

Titanium frames are treated with microbeads after the application of masking stencils, so a brushed finish is left visible.
